Greyhounds and Water

Summer Fawn Greyhound art by: angiart

Last year Stinger and I went to the beach for the very first time. It was a very fun and funny day. I was not sure how Stinger would act towards the beach/water. Well lets just say that the water scared him at first . Than once he figured it out he loved it. Oh how I do wish I had my video camera for this mile stone. Animal planet America most fuuniest animal her we come:laughuing:

How does your geyhound like the water? tell me your story.

I took Caliloka and she went right in the water at our camp the first time. But the second time.....my dad's friend Charlie was walking her while I ate supper and she was walking in the water and then slipped and fell into a drop off, it scared her and she freaked out and cried. I was on the patio and couldnt see, but when I heard her I threw my supper on the ground and ran for her......when I get to them here is my dog TOTALLY dripping wet and sharking and Charlie up to his knees in the lake (with shoes and socks on!). He jumped in to "save" her :)

My daughters bridge baby, Bo, loved to wade in the water.  She was originally from England and they thought she was an Irish smuggled into the UK.  Too cold over there but she had no fear of walking in the lake and puddles.  We never let her go too far out and kept her on her lead.  She probably would have sunk like a rock.  No ballast on a hound!

Well sometimes she walks right in as far as I'll let her and other times she wont go near it She has days where shes outgoing and days where she's almost a spook. She was REALLY shy when I first got her. But agility has helped her overcome some of her fears.

Ours love the water and the beach. My parents have a beach house in Bethany Beach DE, and we go there alot on weekends and during the summer. They just love playing and running on the beach and in the water.

Bo and Ryce used to both love the lake.  Bo was fearless but Ryce just liked to wade around.
