My daughter is going to be 11 in a couple of weeks. 13 days actually. She says that she doesn't have any greyhound friends. Could I impose on at least some of you to send her a card? You can get my address from Wendy, Leslie, or me. Her name is Morgan. I know that she would think it was paw-some to get cards from her greyhound friends!
Okay, but do you want one from each of the houndies--we can do that for you as well--ANYTHING FOR MORGAN-----THE GA HOUNDIEZ LOVE GIRLS!! By the way, what does Morgan like?
Thinking of you, L'il Bullet and da Georgia Houndiez

Bullet, You are wonderful!! Anything you would like to do for Morgan is fine! If you want to send seperate cards, thats fine. Morgan likes horses and her houndies. She collects those Breyer horses. You "guys" are wonderful!!! Thank you, "Auntie" Michaela
Thank you Bonnie and crew, Jan and Leslie!! Morgan will be so happy when she gets home!! For the last three days when she gets home, she asks me "Did I get anything in the mail?". It's kinda funny to see her face when I have to tell her, "Nope, nothing today"!
Edited to add: Morgan was so happy to get cards from the houndies and their families!! Thank you again!
That sounds like a nice idea. I like to join in on this also.
By the way. We should start a Greyhound Paws Pen Pal Club. For the kids. So Morgan will also have friends her age. That send her her mail also.
So if you know anyone kids/adults that want to do this pass the word along.
I will make up a book. That will passed along with the first letter / card I send to Morgan. When she gets that she gave give it to lilbullet and she can pass it on to someone else.
Thank you for this idea M. I hope and pray it takes off. I know when I was Morgans age I loved having a pen pal.
Wendy, Oh! Ok. I hadn't thought of that!! That's a good idea providing she keeps up with it!! She's not one who is known to do a lot of letter writing! We could see if it would work!
PS- Bonnie, we got the package today! What wonderful books! Morgan and I had to go to Iowa City(about 2 hours one way from us) this morning and during the course of the round trip, she matched up all the ponies that had a place in the book!! She's going to keep the poster book together the way it is as a picture book.
Very glad that Morgan enjoyed the books!! They came from Barnes and Noble in the city but I thought that Morgan would really enjoy them. Perhaps she will also start a scrapbook with the photos that she received of the houndies and families that sent photos. That will be a nice remembrance for her. We are very glad that she had such a good time with them.
Additionally, we will participate in the houndie/humans penpal club. That sounds like a very fun idea. Can't wait to see how it will work!
Bonnie

I am getting around very slowly. I was surprised to find out that my knee through my calf are in a soft cast because that is certainly not what I thought I was getting. I can't shower for two weeks, either. I was pretty much laid up for 48 hours and tried getting around a bit with a walker. The leg is really heavy--I'd forgotten how very heavy any type of cast is-plaster or soft with stiffened gauze with some kind of solution on it that forms around the leg. Then, that is covered with more netting, and a compression stocking, and a sock. It is certainly not meant for looks! And sweet Murphy has some real issues with the walker which has wheels on the front--he is scared half to death of it. Bullet and Pookie are fascinated with it. Pookie licks the wheels and Bullet bites the wheels. I am pretty sick of laying in bed already, but the leg is so heavy to move, it's miserable. The first day wasn't too bad, because the anesthesia hadn't worn off, but by the 2nd day it had, and then came the pain. The orthopedist had to shave the bone and trim the cartilage because that was all damage from a couple of accidents I'd been in. The left knee is snapping pretty bad now, and we are wondering if it will hold out until this one heals. This is my first trip upstairs with Pookie while I'm on the computer and Rich is supposed to come back and get us. I did this so he could take Bullet outside to play ball and frisbee. I hope that the birthday celebration went well for Morgan. My mouth was watering for a cupcake Friday morning, I could just taste it. Hope that she had a real good time for her birthday as I'm sure she did with her wonderful Mom. I'll keep checking back in with you, and Murphy will be checking on Neba as he misses her very much and is going to tell her all about this walker that is scaring him. Thanks for the good wishes. Love, Bonnie

Awww!! Poor Murphy! Tell him I said to try to be brave! They don't seem to bother Neba too badly and Oreo doesn't care. No, we don't have one here, but when we went to two senior assisted living places with them, they did just fine. We still have one cupcake left! I hope that your other knee holds out until the this one heals. Looks like it's going to storm here again. I'll let you go and rest. Neba sends more kisses and hugs and Oreo sends tail wags and play bows. Love, Michaela
Dear Aunt Michaela, Murphy really hates dat walker for sure. Me and Pookie tries to bite da wheels on it. But we'se finding dat dey are made wif berry hard rubber. Dey don't come apart da way we wuld like. Momma is habin problems wif her knee is bucklin eben do she has followed da doktors instrukshuns to da letter. I fink dat her knee is berry slow healing.
I bet dat dose cupcakes tasted real good. We lubs to eat cake wif banilla icing. Did you gets any pikshurs of Morgan? We'd like to see dem if youse did. She is a berry purdy girl. Sending lots of lub, along with tail wags and air snaps, L'il Bullet

Aww, Bullet, you shouldn't try to bite the wheels of mom's walker! She needs that so she can heal. Then she will be much better. It wouldn't surprise me if it did take quite a while for her knee to heal. Something like that doesn't just heal overnight or in a day. That's good that she's following her instructions to the letter. She should and I bet your dad is there to help her, too. The cupcakes were white cake with vanilla frosting. They were good. I didn't get any pictures of Morgan, I'm sorry, but I promise that when they do the school pictures, I will be sure to send you a picture. They will be taking them next month and then they will be back in November. I was even able to get through on a radio program that she listens to when she gets to go with her dad (it's a quite popular show) and asked the hosts to sing Happy Birthday to her and they did. Of course the live airing was while she was still in school, so we stayed up until almost 11:00 that same night (Friday) so she could hear the replay. I had to wake her up so she could hear it!! When she heard it, she got this really huge grin on her face. I think that hearing that along with getting some flowers delivered to her at school made her actual birthday, since we had celebrated the weekend before when her dad was home. Take care of your mom, Sending hugs, play bows and tail wags back to you, too!! "Aunt" Michaela
Roo dere Aunt Michaela, Dat's rweal nice dat Miss Morgan got dem fwowers delibered at school. We lubs to smell fwowers!! Dey are da berry best!! All of us houndies bet dat it mades Morgan feel eber so spechul to get dem fwowers at school!! How neat!! But wese gwad dat youse cellybraded when hers Daddy was home!! Dat mades it all rite!! Momma is trying to pway ketchup wif correspondents and get sum fings out in da mail. Depending on how she is doing, Daddy may end up staying home all week. She is trying to be brab and not ask him to, cuz he is pwanning on going bak on Friday, so his desk dontse get baked up. Us houndies rweally dontse unnderstand da reasoning for going for just a day, spechully da last one in da workweek. We fink dat Daddy is a workhorse. He is finding dat working at home and getting da chores and fings done at home aintse as easy as it looks. Well, Ise best be going, cuz I am still figuring how to bite fru dem tires on Momma's walker. Murphy is still afraid of its, but den again, he's gots a lot of issues about fings anyroo. Momma says just to leabes him bee and it will be okie dokey. Love, L'il Bullet

Dear "Nephew" Bullet, Morgan says that it picked up her spirits to get the flowers because she was having a little bit of a bad day at school. We tried to have her birthday be special for her by celebrating it early. I hope that your mom can get all caught up on her things that she needs to get done. I hope that your dad can stay home all week and won't have to worry about going into work for one day this week. It always takes the dads having to stay home and help out around the house to see that us moms don't really just sit around all day! Remember, don't try to bite through the tires on your moms walker. It's what helps her get around while she's healing. She needs those tires on the ends of those two legs of that walker!! Why, it would almost be like your mom having only one car with two flat tires and you wanting to go to the treat store! No tires, no go!! Be with Murphy and try to comfort him about the walker. Take him up to it when it's just sitting there and help him to investigate it. Tell him that Oreo says they're not that scary. Really! Give your mom a hug for me and Neba and Morgan! Love, "Aunt" Michaela
PS- Has your mom checked out the pictures I posted of Oreo from the other night? They are funny!
Sounds like a good idea!! I say the only thing we can do is to try!
Yes I agree. " Let's try ." Okay M. You will be the one to get the address book. And you can pass it along. I just hope the booklet is not too much to pass along. Weight wise. I could do a scale down version. So I will send both version. And you can let me know which one you like best. Ok
Hi Wendy! Yes, I did get the book, but was gone this weekend. It's all set to send to the next person. It's a nice little book. Morgan and I went to a model horse show. We left yesterday and the show was held today. We just got home a little bit ago. Tired. I'll get it back out again next week.
