Today I finally decided that I was just gonna rip the carpet out of our closet and see what the floor looked like underneath.  I figured if worse came to worse, I could just lay the top layer of carpet back down.  Anyway, I got done pulling the two layers of carpet out, then the layer of foam rubber padding to find wood floors in good shape with just a few paint spots on it!!  YAY!!!  Now for the long, convincing talk to DH after he sees this to try to talk him into letting me rip out the rest of the carpet, at least the carpet in the spare room.  It has had some nasty stains IN it since we moved in, and it smells awful!! If we are going to try to consider selling this house, we need to do something, so if we can't afford to put carpet in, then lets just rip out the old carpet.  I say, let them see the wood floors!
