Michaela, I just wanted to make sure someone was breathing out there. We need details on the wedding. I love hearing about that stuff. And what are you baking for the fair?
White bread, wheat bread, oatmeal bread, PB cookies, Shoo Fly pie, corn bread, and I have 3 jars of pickles. I'm also taking DOG COOKIES, mixed annual planter, hollyhocks, plastic canvas coasters, and 2 B+W photos. I'll post pics from the wedding later.
PLUS, we're getting ready for Morgan and Neba to do the agility tonight, her 4-H interview and judging tomorrow, our Open classes with the dogs Wednesday night (1 or 2 classes for Neba and 2 for Oreo), the look forward to Saturday for the Clover Kids Pet Show, then on Sunday afternoon, we have to go back and pick up our displays that were judged. Whew! We are taking our entries over later today and then we go back later tonight (6:00) for the agility. I wish I had a better camera, but I don't. I'm trying to win a Canon AE1 on Ebay and havent had much luck. The closest I have come was last night when the winner beat me by about $30 or so.
Ok, all entries are turned in as of 11:00 this morning. Yay!!! It's raining right now and we have about 2 hours to go until Agility time! The agility contest starts at 6:00. Poor Oreo will probably stay home and Neba will strut her stuff. I'll have a report later on both the Agility and the Dog Cookie contest. Morgan and I are entries 1 and 2 for the cookies. Morgan made Emeril's Dog Cookies and I made the Low Fat Dog Cookies that are in the recipe section here.
Oreosmom I am here. I have just been at work all day and night. Plus ther HOT weather here has been awfull. In the mid 90's with humidity to boot 103 temp yuck.
That's what the weather here is like. It rained and hailed last night, we got about a quarter of an inch of rain, it cooled off but then this afternoon I had to close up the house again and turn on the AC.
Close up the house and turn on the AC.? I cant remember NOT having the AC on. We are use to 90's with up to 90 % humidity. Walk outside and its so thick you cant breath. I guess we are just use to it. During the summer we can tell time by when the thunderstorms come in from over the Everglades. Welcome to summer in Miami. At least we haven't had any hurricanes yet. But its early.
Well, I had the AC off and had opened up a couple of windows yesterday morning when I noticed it had cooled off a little. By afternoon it was sticky and hot again. Today they are forcasting the temps to be 90-100 WITHOUT heat index so figure 105 or so for today. Bleck!!!
Hellooooo... is there anyone out there in cyber space. besdies my Mods. Oreosmom & RycesMom. I know this board is not all that bad. So come one new people and old members WAKE UP and say something. We wont bite.
I know it!! Where did everyone go? Maybe because of this heat, their computers all fried! I hope it isn't this hot on the 17th when we have to go to Des Moines for the State Fair. It'll be murder on all of us IF it is this hot.
Someone on GT came up with the idea to raise money for the brood mom kennel at grey haven in fl.
Seems it took on a life of its own with the theme of the Red Hat Society. Hope the old ladies weren't offended by the use of their name. Anyway, vendors chimed in a offered to donate part of their sales of Red Hat Society articles to the kennel. Hence, Nebas new hat. Also direct donations to the kennel (2$) and your 10 yr and older girls joined thr RHS, younger girlie hounds could join and become ladies in waiting. Vendors now making hats for girls and hats for the boys. Red Hat Society collars etc. Good fund raising effort to a good cause. When you have that many people on a board they make it look easy. Hope they have raised a lot of money for them. They sure could use it.
How neat. Let me know if they need someone to help out. the Red hay idea is GREYT. I belive you gave one to oreosmom. That was very nice of you. You a good hearted person. we need more people like yourself in this world.
I,ve only checked in briefly the last couple of days cause I've been working. Get up at 0445 in AM. do bird, dogs, me and leave for work at 0610. At work by 0700. If I'm lucky I get to sit down for lunch at some point in the day. that could be anywhere from 1100 to 1800(6PM). My ICU is 24 beds, head injuries, gunshot wounds to head, brain tumors, aneurysms, spinal cord injuries. We run full all the time, We are frequently short staffed. We travel with our patients to the OR, CT Scan, Angio, Neuro MRI, Special procedures, Nuclear medicine. That means whenever we travel we take ventilator, pumps IV drips, respiratory therapist. Its a regular road trip. Our patients dont go to the recovery room after surgery. They come right back to us with a MD and Anesthesiologist in tow. We recover them in the unit. Because its a neurosurgical ICU, we not only have the usual IV lines but we have large central lines and lumbar drains and ventriculostomies to monitor intracranial pressures with. Frequently our patients end up as organ donors so we work closely with the Life Alliance people. I should not know the homicide and traffic homicide detectives on a first name basis but I do. How sick is that. Our patients have a tendency to go bad in an instant because of the type of patients that they are. We twist drill heads and do tracheostomies right in the ICU. I left work tonight at 8PM. Home by 8:30 if traffic is light. My feet hurt and I'm hungry, I smell like I've been slimed. But I love my job. My last phone call at work tonight was to the Medical Examiner. I do love my job.
Thank you for letting me whine. I'm going to fix a vodka/tonic/lota lime and go to bed. I love you guys.
