ME Bar Harbor and Acadia National Park Pets are allowed in all park locations except Sand Beach, Echo Lake Beach, Isle au Haut campground, ladder trails and inside public buildings. Must be under control and not left unattended.
ME State Parks Dogs are allowed in most state parks, but are excluded specifically from Crescent Beach, Outlet Beach, Scarborough Beach (and several upland parks).
ME Kittery Sea Point Beach, located in Kitterry Point, allows dogs.

MA Cape Cod National Seashore Dogs allowed on beach on lead, year round. However, they are restricted from nature trails, bathing beaches, and shore bird nesting areas from May 15 to October 15.
MA State Parks Dogs allowed on lead in all state parks with the significant exceptions of Gallop Island, George's Island, Halibut Pt., South Cape Beach (as well as some inland sites).
MA Provincetown The last time we were up there, all of the beaches allowed dogs on lead. Found no restrictions to the contrary.

NJ Monmouth County Beaches Dogs allowed on most municipal beaches off season
NJ Ocean County Beaches Many allow dogs on beach off-season but prohibit from May 15 to Sept. 1. Mantoloking allows dogs on lead year round. South Seaside allows dogs on or off lead in the off season. Seaside Park does not allow dogs on beaches, year round.
NJ Long Beach Island Barnegat Light Beach allows dogs except from May 1 through Oct. 1. Many of the municipal beaches are the same.
NJ Atlantic County Seasonal restrictions on most municipal beaches but many allow dogs on lead off season
NJ Cape May County Avalon/Stone Harbor allow dogs anytime between Oct. 1 and Feb. 28. Otherwise restricted. North Wildwood allows dogs from Sept. 16 to May 14. Cape May Beaches allow dogs only from November through February.

VA State & National Parks Dogs allowed on False Cape State Park beach year round, but has access restrictions which vary seasonally. For info, call (757) 426-7128. Dogs prohibited from Assateague and Chincoteague Wildlife Refuges, public beaches and in public facilities.
VA City of Virginia Beach From Labor Day to Memorial Day, pets are not allowed on public beaches from 10 a.m. and 6 p.m. For the beach areas west of the boardwalk, no dogs allowed at all during those time periods. Otherwise they are allowed.

I already found a couple of places that welcome dogs at their outside eating tables, a couple of pet related stores (one of them is a treat store), and the AKC Dog Museum is in St. Louis and definately welcomes leashed dogs there. I think we are going to change our plans a little and stay an extra day!!

And our origional plans were to just go down for the Greyhound Festival on June 4th!!! We are leaving on the 3rd, and it looks like we will be coming back on the 6th.

Most of the dogs you see there are "accessory dogs". You know the kind, In a little dress with a rhinestone collar and Gucci tote, that looks like it should be on Valium. Tjhey really dont like to see the big dogs. Too bad! Nobody said only small dogs...
